All ingredients are probably in your pantry right now! No grocery store runs is always a plus, am I right? :)

Full of flavor. Your family will fall in love!

Ingredients:

For the Salisbury Steak:

  • 1 pound ground beef (lean)

  • 1/3 cup breadcrumbs

  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onions

  • 1 large egg

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

For the Gravy:

  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter

  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

  • 1 1/2 cups beef broth

  • 1/2 cup sliced mushrooms (optional)

  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard

  • Salt and pepper to taste

Let's Make It!

1. Prepare the Salisbury Steak Patties:

  • In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, chopped onions, minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, egg, salt, and pepper.

  • Mix the ingredients until well combined but avoid overworking the meat.

  • Divide the mixture and shape it into oval-shaped patties, about 1/2 inch thick.

2. Cook the Salisbury Steaks:

  • Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.

  • Place the patties in the skillet and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they are nicely browned and cooked through.

  • Once done, transfer the patties to a plate and cover them to keep warm.

3. Prepare the Gravy:

  • In the same skillet used for cooking the patties, melt the butter over medium heat.

  • Sprinkle in the flour and whisk continuously until it forms a smooth paste, cooking for about 1-2 minutes.

  • Slowly pour in the beef broth while whisking constantly to avoid lumps.

  • Add the sliced mushrooms if using, Dijon mustard, salt, and pepper. Stir well to combine.

4. Simmer and Serve:

  • Allow the gravy to simmer and thicken for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  • Once the gravy reaches your desired consistency, return the Salisbury steaks to the skillet, coating them with the gravy.

  • Let them simmer together for a couple of minutes to absorb the flavors.

5. Plate and Enjoy:

  • Serve the Salisbury steaks warm, generously spooning the flavorful gravy over the top.

  • Pair them with creamy mashed potatoes, buttered noodles, or your favorite veggies for a complete, satisfying meal.

This classic Salisbury steak recipe is a personal favorite in my household! When I'm short on time, but still want to "wow" the fam, it's definitely my go-to. It brings together simple ingredients (that are more than likely already in your pantry) to create a dish that's both comforting and delicious. I promise, this recipe never disappoints!
